Göcek sits at the head of a sheltered bay ringed by twelve islands, which makes it the calmest cruising ground on this coast. When the meltem is blowing hard around Bodrum, Göcek stays workable — one reason most charters here run as multi-day blue cruises rather than single day trips.
The anchorages are close together. Bedri Rahmi Bay with its painted rock, the Yassıca Islands, Tersane Island and Kızılkuyruk are all within an hour or two of each other, so you can move between three or four bays without a long passage. Fethiye, Boynuzbükü and Sarsala open up on a longer route.
